The Uses of 2-Heptanone
2-Heptanone, also known as methyl amyl ketone or n-amyl methyl ketone, is a colorless liquid with a pungent fruit fragrance and a slight medicinal fragrance. It is slightly soluble in water and soluble in most organic solvents.
It is widely used in industrial solvents, fibers, medicine, pesticides, fragrance chemicals and other fields.
It is used in the synthesis of spices, such as carnation, medicinal fragrance and other cosmetic materials for blending. In addition, it is used in edible flavors such as banana, citrus, peach, coconut, cream, and cheese, and as a flavoring agent in perfumery.
2-heptanone can also be used in metallic coatings as a solvent for colored steel plate resins.
With the addition of 2-heptanone resin, the wear resistance, scratch resistance and aging resistance of conventional resin coatings are significantly improved, and it is one of the important oxygen-containing solvents with great market prospects.It has appropriate coating performance and good solubility, volatility, especially suitable for high grade coating, high solid content coating. In addition, it can also be used as a radiation-sensitive resist coating composition.
From the economic and environmental considerations, the solubility of resins and polymers is high, so the amount of paint solvent is reduced. Its volatility is low, which means only a small amount of solvent evaporates into the atmosphere, so it is used without obvious industrial toxicity at normal temperature. That's why it is also called a green solvent.
